Rakhi
or raksha bandhan is celebratory of the brother-
sister tie and it is one occasion where brothers
and sisters come together to re-affirm their ties
and exchange blessings and good wishes. The traditional
practice involved sisters tying a sacred thread
at the wrists of their brothers to protect them
from evil and misfortune. In turn the brother
took a pledge to protect his sister from all harm.
